Elon Musk discussed choosing a political system for settlements on Mars: people will be able to vote

Michelle D. Castillo December 30, 2021 2 min read

The first colonies on Mars may be ruled by direct democracy. Their inhabitants will be able to vote on the adoption of laws , which in turn should be simple and easy to understand.

This opinion was expressed by the founder of Tesla and SpaceX, American billionaire Elon Musk, in an interview with scientist and blogger Lex Friedman, whose YouTube video posted a corresponding video. The businessman believes that the political system of the first colonies on the Red Planet could be similar to the first colonies on the American continent (to watch the video, scroll to the end of the news) .

According to the businessman, representative democracy is not necessary for the first small settlements, when laws are passed by representatives elected by the people

Earlier, US billionaire, SpaceX founder Elon Musk, said that by 2030, Starship spacecraft will already be able to fly to Mars. He believes it is entirely possible to build a base on the Red Planet by the end of this decade.

In addition, the businessman intends to sell all his goods in order to have as much capital as possible to finance the future colony on Mars. According to the American billionaire, people should know how serious he is about colonizing the Red Planet.

  • Dutch scientists have discovered whether it would be possible to grow plants on Mars in the future. To do this, they studied the effect of gamma radiation, which was recorded by the Curiosity rover, on watercress and rye. The harvest was called & # 171; disappointing & # 187; and it was found to be below the radiation control standard;

  • NASA is looking for people to simulate an isolated life on Mars. US citizens between the ages of 30 and 55 can participate in the selection. The first mission will last a year.
